Word of the Day!

I find these words the girls spout to be so comical and well worth documenting. So from time to time I will post their - Word of the Day!!

Today's Word: Coppering

Usage in a sentence:

Sophie: Anna? I want that!
Anna: Anna? I want that!
Sophie: Stop Anna!
Anna: Stop Anna!
Sophie: Anna! Stop COPPERING me!!
Sophie: Mom - Dad - Anna's COPPERING me!!!

Gotta love it!!

Sophie Speaks (again)

Sophie is by far the most hysterical child I know. She is always making us laugh and brings her exuberance to our normally mundane lives. She has done it again! She has said something that brought such a smile and belly laugh from myself and my husband that I just had to share!

My husband Donald has been working very hard recently down in our basement - he's trying to finish it before the baby comes as we are turning the basement into our new family/playroom and giving the baby the playroom upstairs. Well this makes for a lot of late nights and time away from the family. The other night daddy was downstairs working and the girls and I were upstairs for the entire night. Sophie hadn't seen much of him and was missing him. She had already been put to bed when Donald came upstairs and she was still asleep when he left for work the next morning. When she woke up that morning she went right for the gate at the top of the basement stairs. She stood there in her jammies and hollered down the stairs, "DAD - YOU ALL RIGHT DOWN THERE?" Bless her heart - she thought her daddy had been down there all night! I told her that daddy was not there and was at work and she promptly said, "Mom - I still hear fixin down there!"

I was laughing so hard. You just have to love that girl!!!!!

As in the past I have usually had a lot of comical things that happen in my life. Little bits of humor that help propel me on my way. A lot of my "Not me!" Mondays are filled with my comical comings and goings that occur on a daily basis. This weekend I didn't have many of those. So here are my "Not Me's":

I did NOT cry hysterically for an entire evening and threaten to quit my job and never return. What kind of hormonal person would do something like that?

I did NOT then take my girls to Wal-mart and let them pick out anything they wanted just because I was depressed. What kind of mother would bribe her children in this way? Not me!

I did NOT yell at my husband and NOT tell him what was wrong and just let him assume he was just being a jerk (even though he wasn't!)

I did NOT have another fellow church member tell me my girls looked like princesses and then say I looked a little worse for wear. That would have been rude and I wouldn't have taken it! Although he actually had me smiling for the first time in awhile. And truth be told - I looked like doggy doo!!! God Bless him for that!

So you see - my "Not me! Monday" still had that ring of uckiness I am still trying to overcome, but I promise - next week I'm sure I'll have lots of Not Me's to post about!!!

Here's Lookin at You Kid!

Something to be thankful for on Thankful Thursday. Here is the newest face picture of the baby. We went in for the 2nd scan and found out that we need to return in six weeks to measure growth. They said the baby is structurally perfect and that it was just measuring a bit small. We were told that people with MTHFR were prone to have small babies. She then asked how big my other two daughter were: 6lbs 7oz and 6lbs 12 oz. She then laughed and said, "Well there you go." She didn't seem real concerned, I'll just pray that he/she continues to progress at a steady rate! The picture you see is a close-up of the baby's face. There are shadows around its nose but other than that - isn't it the sweetest!!!! By the way - I may be leaning a bit more toward Olivia again. Donald HATES it, but I think it fits so well with the girls! Olivia Claire fits nicely - dontcha think?

Out of the Mouths of Babes!

Sophie crawled in bed with me this morning very early. She laid there patting my hair and telling me how much she loved me (insert aw's here). When I went to tell her I loved her too she looked at me and said, "Mommy - why does your breath smell so bad?" I wasn't upset as I was pretty sure it probably did smell. I said, "well... I have a cold and I have a lot of gunk in my head." She looked at me so sweetly and said, "You have a skunk in there? "No honey - gunk - gunk!!"

I really did have to laugh - she's just so darn cute.

Fire Safety

On Saturday, Daddy and the girls had their annual "fire safety" talk. Each year Donald tells the girls the importance of not playing with fire and then we watch as he does the yearly controlled burn on the grass that Donald likes to call "ornamental". Truthfully he hasn't a clue as to what it is, but I guess it sounds like something fancy you would want to have in your front yard. It's a togetherness activity that is teaching the girls important life lessons. They were in awe of the fire and Anna was worried about it enough to keep asking if we could "get the hose now." I will say that I departed from the scene to finish housework and when the kids came in they were soaked. Daddy pretended not to know anything about it. Yeah, right dad!!!

The girls were in awe of the flames but soon realized just how hot a fire can burn. Sophie and Anna really enjoyed helping daddy put it out!

Spring has Sprung!

I know that "Spring has Sprung" is not grammatically correct, but what the hay!?! Due to all this glorious weather we have been able to get out and finally enjoy some wonderful quality time! On Sunday we had uncle Tyler (yes I said uncle) and Michaela over for a play date in the afternoon. They all had such a great time rolling down the hills and eating their popsicles!! I really enjoy relaxing days like this.

Monday is here once again and with each passing Monday come my dreams for Friday!!! As everyone can usually tell, I have a lot of "Not me!" Monday types of occurrences. They happen each day of the week and for me to reflect on all of them would be extremely difficult. Here are my happenings from today - they are not my usual off the wall events. I guess I should thank the Lord that I'm having a pretty boring day (thus far).

I did NOT send my girls to school and Lindy's with daddy just so I could pull the covers over my head for 50 more minutes. That would be a totally selfish thing to do and I'm not selfish (am I?)

I did NOT email Tonya's brother-in-law and call him silly nicknames and ask him silly things when I don't even really know him at all. That would be rude and I have no business butting into other peoples affairs. But it was pretty funny!

I did NOT laugh hysterically when that same brother-in-law emailed me back and told me he had tried and tried to fold the dishes and couldn't figure out how I was doing it! How he would have heard about that - I can only guess!

And last but NOT least. I did NOT hold my breath when my class walked in and my morning went so smooth. That is a blessing beyond belief for me this year!!!

Trust me -- if I have any other NOT me moments - I will be sure to post them!!

Pregnancy Brain has Struck (again)

Well...

Once again pregnancy brain has impacted my life and caused great confusion and distress. With all the hormones raging through my body it's know wonder I can even function on a semi-normal level. Everyday it seems to get progressively worse and I can only imagine what pregnancy brain things I will do in the future. I can only pray that when the pregnancy ends, I will return to normal - or as normal as I was in the first place.

This was my night and I will admit to everything that transpired!

My daughters and I were running a bit late to their swim class last night. I got them in the car and off we went. Halfway down the road my fuel light kicked on. I thought to myself, "We'll just get gas after swim class and be done with it." As we drove farther the line for the fuel got increasingly closer to red. I must admit that my heart began pounding a bit as I feared I would be toting my 5 and 3 year old daughters out in the cold when my van ran out of gas. So as we neared Washington I told the girls that we would stop real quick and get gas at the Mobil station there. Still not a problem. So we arrived safely (thank the Lord) and I pressed the payment key. Smooth sailing now I thought to myself. I really should know better by now! I filled up and then proceeded to drive the van up to the front door. Seeing as I don't have a debit card I had to get the girls out of the van to go inside the store to pay with a check. Which is still more than acceptable in these parts of the great United States. So we walk into the store after fumbling with car seats and van doors, etc, only to be told by the very nice man behind the counter (yeah, right) that they do NOT accept checks anymore. I probably had that elusive deer in the headlights look - I'm sure I did - as I politely explained that it was all I had. He kept looking at me and asked if I had any other credit cards. After I said no I asked him just what exactly he expected me to do. By this time the girls were losing patience and I was loosing my sanity feeling more embarrassed in that time than I had in a long time. He then made me fill out paperwork which included everything down to the color of my underwear. Well not really that, but most of my life's information. I then had to promise to return to the scene of the crime within the hour or I'm sure my name would have been heard on most of the local police scanners! I informed him that we were late for swim class and I was NOT letting the girls miss it. He gave me the most exasperated look and said, "fine. I'll be here till ten." After hustling the girls into the van and crying hysterically to my mother about where I could cash a check for over $20.00 at 8:00 at night, I finally got the girls to swim. I took a breather long enough to call my father-in-law Danny, who happened to be at Kenny and Michelle's house last night and luckily, Michelle happened to be in Washington. Talk about a "bail-out" plan!
So - Michelle bailed me out and boy did I feel like a hormonal fool. I have to say though - Thank GOD for Michelle or I might have gone off the deep-end. Most of you know I'm sure how when you get upset common sense tends to disappear and you work with only raw feeling. That was me - a bundle of rawness!! After swim I decided we would go ahead and drop a check off at Michelle's house so I wouldn't feel quite so indebted anymore and I could get on with my night - which included finding my warm fluffy pillow and if I still had it - my blankie! I dropped the check off feeling very proud of myself. Situation taken care of. Score one for Megan! When I made it home I received a phone call from Michelle. She told me thanks for the check but...

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

It was made out to MOBIL!!!!!!!!!
In the background I could hear Kenny say, "You do know that Mobil doesn't take checks?"

Hardy Har Har!!

All I can say is that blessings do come everyday - it's just all in the way you look at them. As a side to this - on my way home my friend Traci called and asked if I could write a check for her and she would repay me. After my night I decided it would be BAD JUJU to say no. My lessons have been learned!!!

Thankfully my "Not me!" Monday is a little less exciting than it was last Monday. I can honestly say that today I did NOT lock my girls in the van! And that's the truth!

Those of you who know me well will know that lately I have been plagued with what I like to call - pregnancy brain. It's seems that with each subsequent pregnancy, my brain continues to loose a little piece of itself! So my "Not Me!" Monday will start like this:

I did NOT tell Tonya and Albert that I had to fold the dishes. That would have been ridiculous and I'm too smart for that.

During that same evening with Tonya and Albert, I did NOT add the cheese to the macaroni noodles in the strainer and then start to mix it in the sink. That would be insane and I am most assuredly NOT insane (am I?).

I did NOT start the washing machine and then forget to put clothes in. That would be so wasteful in this economy and I know better.

I did NOT spend three hours trying to organize my daughters drawers (sorting through all the winter/summer clothes) just to make a much bigger mess than when I started.

I did NOT spend all that time organizing everything just to realize that I had forgotten to put an entire basket of clothes away!! That would most definitely NOT be something I would have done.

That's it - that's all folks!

Ultrasound Uckiness

On Thursday we went in for our 20 week ultrasound appointment. I was nervous about it but excited also. The technician had me lie on my back (which is a no-no as I have low blood pressure with this baby). We did inform the young tech about it and she proceeded on with the ultrasound. She seemed a bit new as she struggled to get the right measurements and didn't talk much at all. While I was looking at the screen, I started to feel a bit funny. My stomach started hurting and I felt a LOT of pressure on my back. I guess I started to pass out because the next thing I knew - Donald was asking if I was okay. I guess I had stopped talking about the baby and was too still. So for the rest of the appointment she was trying to measure baby from me laying on my side (darn low blood pressure - I can't even sit against a chair for a bit without having it drop!) Well, needless to say I will have to go back for another one! I just dread having to lie down again! I have posted the only picture we got!

The "Love Gift"

After a hard day at work, I was so very surprised to open an envelope and find such a wonderful, wonderful gift inside of it! My Aunt Joyce and Uncle Bill who live in Illinois sent a "love gift" to the pregnant women in the family. When I saw it I knew just what I was going to use it for. I had been eyeing and eyeing a bassinet for baby J for quite sometime now, and was waiting for the right opportunity to get it. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity than that - it was the EXACT price!!! We then went on a hunting mission to find it and FINALLY we found the last one in the area! It's a very basic bassinet - nothing fancy - but it is JUST like the one we used for Anna (which was borrowed). So again - Thanks Aunt Joyce and Uncle Bill!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for the beautiful weather! My spirits soar when the weather is nice!

I am thankful that the end of school is in sight!!

I am thankful that my ultrasound went okay and that I didn't completely pass out on the table (darn that low blood pressure)!

I am thankful for my two beautiful swimmers and that the "Tank" didn't jump into the pool without her teacher!

I am thankful that God will help me not to worry about the things I can't control!

Not Me Monday

Sometimes I have to think for awhile before I post this message. NOT today! So here it goes:

I did NOT lock my girls in a running van this morning. That would be unthinkable and I would NOT do that. Definitely NOT on a Monday and NOT when I was running late!

I did NOT call my mom and dad crying hysterically. That would have been silly and I am too mature to do something like that!

I did NOT stand in the cold trying to coax my unbuckled daughter to unlock the door. I would NOT do that.

Luckily my dad had the spare key and was able to unlock the door or I would NOT be at work this morning.

Sophie's only comment: "Wasn't I a good girl for staying in my seat?"

I had to laugh and say, "Of course you were."

That's all that I'm NOT posting about today!!
